Woke up, at 3am to get ready for my friend Amy to pick me up and take that 3 hour journey to MN for me to get on my bus. And that is when my troubles started to show, it took us almost 4 hours to get there which almost made me miss my bus, then when we got there I was to get on in terminal 3… yet that bus was full so they wouldn’t let me on it, instead directed me to an alternate bus that would take me to Fargo.
At Fargo I got to spend 2 hours watching old sitcoms on their TV. Once it was close they have you fill out paper work to cross the boarder, this isn’t new I’ve done this before and had no problems in the past. From Fargo we headed to the border, we arrived around dinner time and it was very busy so they had an officer come onto our bus to check our paper work and then in theory would have us just drive off. There were maybe 7 of us total on the bus to Winnipeg. The officer came on and harassed the gentleman in front of me, then told me and another girl to go inside they needed to see us. Once inside I found the one officer who was on an evil power trip. I’m not going to go into a lot of details but for 2 hours… TWO HOURS, he had me there for questioning. He claimed I broke all these rules and I wasn’t allowed back into Canada. He claimed my visa I was issued last May was not a Visa. He claimed I didn’t have a job interview. He claimed I was lying and it was a federal offence. He claimed I had no ties to the U.S. any more. He claimed that everything I said was one big “convenient” story. He had me crying for almost 2 hours, all the other people waiting to talk to an officer in the lobby kept trying to make me smile and calm me down which was nice of total strangers to do. Finally after 2 hours when I came out of the interrogation rooms I found the lobby empty with only my bus driver there waiting for me. He was so pissed at the officer for holding up an entire Greyhound bus to be a total ass to me. But he wasn’t mad at me and he talked to me on the way back to the bus. Needless to say the Officer finally gave me a temp like visa for the interview. If I do not get a job with in that time I’m not allowed in Canada and wont be for several months *eye roll*.
After that nonsense we were off to Winnipeg in the Icy Rainy weather. The whole bus couldn’t believe what that officer put me thru. I guess the other girl that was on the bus had a job, had all the paper work for the job, she had her diploma and EVERYTHING, and still they gave her a horrible time too, and the gentleman in front of me she ripped threw his things right there on the bus looking for drugs. OYI… time to take a nap
