July 6th

I had made plans with Nik and Rachel to play some DND today, I woke up at 9am and headed over there for 11. It started to poor on my walk to the train. By time I arrived to Clairview I called them up and they decided to come get me and head to eat. Afterwards we went back to their place and finished up character sheets and what not. The weather got worse and worse it was a good ol’ fashion WI storm.

Chris got off work at 4pm and picked me up from their place and headed to St. Albert which is a city just outside Edmonton. We were to meet up with his Uncle Ed, Aunt Leanne and Cousins Joshua and Samantha to watch Joshua play baseball. The rain had cleared up by time we reached the park but once they had arrived the league called off the game. Since they had driven over an hour to be in this area and we drove about half that, the plan was too go to eat and take in a movie.

This was the first time I’ve ever met his family. They are like his second family; I mean on mothers and fathers day he called them to wish them a happy one. Anyways as soon as they got out of their van his Uncle gave me a hug and so did his aunt and we begin to chit chat about easy conversational things with me and Chris. I was amazed they seemed to just accept me and want to involve me in their family no questions asked. Very different than what I’m used to with meeting the family.

Our first stop was to see movie times at the cinema in Clairview we had about an hour before the movie started so we went to Chuck E. Cheese's for dinner. Yes you read right Chuck E. Cheese! I had never been to one in my life and here are four grown ups and two almost teens going to Chuck E. Cheese. It was a bit awkward, I mean Chris took off with the kids to play games and me and his aunt sat at the table and tried to talk his uncle was here and there. Eventually our food arrived and everyone was in one spot again. After turning in all the tickets we walked across the parking lot to the theater to find we were too late to get into the show for that time so we had to go to the later show. So there we were with more time on our hands so we wandered the parking lot. Finally we headed to the show, what show you ask? Well we went to see Wall~E, it was great, a lot longer than normal cartoonish movies, and I recommend seeing it. I laughed so much during that movie.

After the movie let out we headed outside once again and said our goodbyes, I received yet another hug and warm words from both his uncle and aunt and this time Samantha hugged me as well. I’m still blown away at their accepting nature, like I didn’t have to impress them or pretend to be someone I wasn’t around them, still a little blown away by that.

Now for the big one, next weekend…. His mom, her husband, his two ½ sisters and brother as well as the four I just met. I hope his mom is as easy going as his aunt is.
