The Peace Offering
Mid afternoon we grouped up and started down the road to peruse merchant row. Once by the large oak tree we stopped and I asked for everyone’s attention. I began, all great things come in threes, Glory Majesty and Unity, power emanates within three’s Black Wind, Fire and, Steel. I spoke of how I must have things in three’s in my life to set balance within myself.
I then turned to Arianna and said to her “You are my guiding star, have been my rock and light of reason for many years now.” I then turned to Mina and said to her “You are a great Mamma, a great beast mistress, you can wrangle most anything, you have a great head on your shoulders and have steered me right since the day I met you.” After this I turned to Katta, My third of the white witches:” I have always respected you, I have admired many aspects about who you are. With the help of the wrangler and the guiding star would you wrangle me? “
I pulled out a black bag from my basket, from it I revealed a small black trinket box made of wood. It had a carving of a crescent moon and a bat on the front. She opened the lid to find a small key with the household colors and a skull on it; along with it there were two small pieces of parchment with personal sayings on them. This key I said is a key to me, like a precious treasure that is kept safe; someone has to own the key to share it with the world.
Katta smiled, giggled and said, “Well you are on the right path... Prezzzzies” the group then continued down merchant row, shopping and at the end of the travels I returned to camp with a Yoo-hoo in hand to give to Katta. Again she laughed and squealed, “Oh this is nice having a Watchee again...This is going to work out just fine” she said.
The Slums have the Best Roads in Northshield
Most of Monday and Tuesday it seemed to be raining on and off, and because of this the dirt roads that lined our sliver of land had become riddled with potholes and puddles. And the slums of Northshield were flooding, so a hearty “road crew” that lived in the slums went to work. The crew consisted of: Tig, a road worker from the Bronx, but he didn’t get his Union wages. Gabriel was the surveyor and he used his pole arm to check if the road work Tig was doing ended up level. Then there was Ralik, the supervisor, he sat in camp in a chair and directed the workers.
Seeing as it was only Tuesday and people were still showing up to set up camp, they kept driving up and down the pothole infested roads. So the Slum Crew went to work raking and filling in each pot hole by their camp. Each time a car came down the road where Tig was filling in the holes and he would have to step off to the side to let them through he would shout out in a Bronx’s accent “HEY! I’m workin’ here!” making waving gestures and then head back into the road to finish his work.
